Elaine Wolfensohn, a classical music enthusiast and the newly appointed president of the American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (AFIPO), believes that the Philharmonic is the best tool for spreading the culture of Israel. “Music is the international language of all languages. For some philosophers, it is the highest of the arts and something that can bring people of every background together.” Since the Orchestra’s founding in 1936, it has certainly bridged many gaps between people. It “travels around the world and reminds people about what is wonderful about Israel.”
