“I believe that the espresso in my latte stimulates my thinking and the peanut butter sandwich holds me together,” says Amy Sales, a social psychologist and Director of the Fisher-Bernstein Institute for Philanthropy and Leadership at Brandies. One must wonder how many peanut butter sandwiches and lattes Sales put back during the six months of research it took her to finish her study on why there is a shortage of quality fundraisers in the community. The study, titled “Developing the Developers”, is giving organizations a little academic support to help solve some of the crippling problems that the philanthropic community is facing.
