Entrepreneur, philanthropist and best-selling author Seymour Schulich has spent a great deal of his life succeeding in the business world. With his new book, Get Smarter: Life and Business Lessons, he’s hoping to teach young people how to do the same. An icon to many Canadians, Schulich’s reach extends far beyond the Great White North. Schulich helped build one of the world’s largest mining companies, Newmont Mining Corporation, and he’s helping to build the careers of many young people through the scholarships (650 to date) and grants he’s funded at universities around the world. Since the mid-1990s, Schulich has given away more than $210 million to academic institutions, foundations, and health care-related causes, and he expects to give much more in the years to come.
